Albrecht Fersch

The "BANG CELL" is a massive accumulation of detonations, a bang accumulation, an expansive force that is at the same time trapped in a closed cell, a glass box. Explosive power, compressed in a confined space; like a small big bang just before expansion. Inside it seethes enormously, outside an ordinary, public place. The room remains closed, and the installation can only be viewed from the outside during the exhibition. Do catastrophes lose their horror due to the accumulation of images? Can destruction degenerate into decoration? Are you safe outside the blast cell? Is there an outside?

Albrecht Fersch (*1970 in Schweinfurt) has studied at the Academy of Arts in Munich and has lived in Berlin since 1995 . As a performance, sound and installation artist, his work includes painting, object art, sound apparatuses, participatory works, poetry and logorealism. He has received numerous awards, including the project scholarship DA Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst (2023), the Neustart scholarship of the Stiftung Kunstfonds (2022), the art prize of the Landesgartenschau Wassertrüdingen (2019) and the Gelderner Turmstipendium (2020).
